The Mesa Community, Culture, and Belonging Collective

Picture
Mesa Elementary’s Community, Culture, and Belonging Collective is a group of volunteer parents, teachers, and administrators working together to make the Mesa community a more welcoming and equitable place for everyone who calls Mesa home. Our goal is that our students experience opportunity, fairness, and a sense of belonging. We aim to create a space for shared learning and collective growth. Our projects include programming and events for students that celebrate their varied backgrounds, parent workshops focused on community-building, and staff professional development opportunities. We welcome participation from everyone in the Mesa community who abides by our committee norms and is committed to celebrating diversity, promoting equity, and fostering a sense of inclusion and belonging.  We meet several times a year. If you have any questions or would like to get involved, please feel free to reach out to:

Josh Baldner, principal, [email protected]
Naomi Moddel, school counselor, [email protected]

This year we are combining our meetings with FET (Families & Educators together).
We aim to provide childcare and dinner for all meetings. Join us: 9/17, 11/12, 1/21 and 4/15 from 5:30 to 7:00. Click here to RSVP to our 11/12 meeting!

Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day- Friday, Nov. 14th
Mark your calendars for Friday, November 14 and plan to wear purple to celebrate Ruby! We will have three meet-up locations near Mesa to gather and walk to school in solidarity to show our community and each other that All Are Welcome at Mesa. We will remember Ruby Bridges and her family, their bravery and commitment to desegregation and inclusivity, and every student’s right to a fair and equal education. Once students arrive at Mesa, they will gather at the front of the school like last year for a short speech then on to class.
